He has not one care in the world, bless him :'). And I love the part 'yeah, wouldn't mind being in new York for a while' OH SCOTTY, STOP BEING LIKE YOUR CHARACTER. YOU LOVE THE BEACH.
HE IS A SEXY BEING HE JUST DOESN'T GET IT - I remember how he said he only started feeling insecure about himself after hitting 30. Silly man, I'd be all over that, he has no idea.
I should find that quote of his again, when he said he used to think he was the shit and then he hit 30 and started growing insecure about himself. He makes me do flaily motions with my hands, I swear.
I remember that quote, although I'm not sure which interview it's from. Sometimes he comes across as a bit of a pretentious twit, yet other times, totally endearing. He's just a little bundle of contradictions. :D
He does! Sometimes he's so douchey, especially during interviews, I just. I want to look at him sternly and wave my finger at him. Because I believe the endearing sides of him are stronger than the douchery. That Open Film chat was just SO. ADORABLE. All of it. To me, anyway, some people that watched it for the interviewer said he was a twat and I just don't understand. I mean, come on, he put his hands under his thighs and kicked his feet. How much cuter can you get.
I need to watch that interview--I've read summaries but haven't seen it all the way through. But yeah, sometimes I watch his interviews and roll my eyes thinking 'OMG you're adorable but please, get over yourself'. I think he really just doesn't do interviews well. Especially when compared to AOL.
I watched it live, I was absolutely gleeful through the whole of it.
The problem is that it seems that he's just so uncomfortable - that was the issue in the Open Film thing, as well. The interviewer was this kind of guy that asks a question and prays the answer will be long and developed - an guy like that could do an 3 hours long interview with Alex without a problem, because Alex shares, you know, he's the easy Aussie with the nice accent and the easy laugh and the ADD that makes him all over the place. But Scott is reserved and he gave short answers, which threw the interviewer off-balance. That's just what he does, he's not really the kind of guy to expand, and when people don't get it, it makes him look stuck-up. Not that he can't be, because there's definitely a part in this where he is stuck-up and he's definitely got a large ego, but, yeah.
Alex could do a 3 hour interview on the basis of one question. :D
Scott does seem really uncomfortable during most interviews--he generally looks like he'd rather be ANYWHERE else. I love the contrast when they do interviews together. I'm sure SC does have a healthy ego, but in his business, you pretty much need one.
I also think it very important to think about this kind of stuff. A lot.
He definitely could. Like in that interview up there, the one with Alex, where he goes on and on about his diet and working and MILK and oh, Alex ::chinhands::.
He's had to build the ego and the confidence in himself with his family history as well, I think. It helps in a way and in another, it really doesn't. To think I didn't even know who his dad was when I first started crushing on him (10 years ago, WHAT IS THIS HOMG)... Oh, when they do interviews together, the laughs. The chinhands. The tin hat. They are so in love, just like their characters.
WORKING OUT MORE SO HE CAN DRINK MORE MILK. What is that about? He's so ridiculous and adorable! And he's going to surf during hiatus just so he can impress Scotty when they start filming again.
I have to admit I was unaware of the existence of SC until this show. Crazy, I know. He made a huge impression on me immediately, though, and was the reason why I went back for more.
And yes, their interviews together are cute beyond words. I can't wait to see what's in the DVDs--I may pass out from sheer glee if they do an episode commentary together.
He's so ridiculous and adorable! And he's going to surf during hiatus just so he can impress Scotty when they start filming again.
Alex SAYS that? So he can impress Scott? I haven't seen the interview with him yet, because I might die from the adorableness that is the O'Lough, but OMG.
I didn't know Scott before this show either. I didn't realize he'd been in Varsity Blues until someone mentioned it, and then I had to scrub that image out of my head with bleach b/c dear god, no. So I was a Scotty-virgin coming into this show.
I tend to steer clear of his interviews because of his duchbaggery, but this was really well done. You're righ, he does look like he wants to be anywhere else. But then again, some actors are better at interviews than others.
I just watched Alex's interview. HOMG. The man is 6'1 of goof. Also, hearing him in his native accent is intoxicating, I forget who I'm listening too because all I've even known from him is American accent. Fascinating.
SC interviews make a lot of the media facepalm too.
They should only be allowed to do interviews together. :D
And it still surprises me to hear Alex's accent, even though I've watched every interview that's out there! It's damn sexy. Like everything else about him.
LOL I DON'T KNOW. HE MAKES ME MAKE *WHAT, I WONDER* HANDS GESTURES ON A DAILY BASIS. He totally is getting better at surfing for Scotty. Any other explanation (he *likes* it? Who cares?) is invalid.
Oh, oh, I am so old though :'). I went to the cinema with my parents to see Ocean's 11, 10 years ago, with Brad Pitt in mind when I got in, and Scotty when I got out. It was a nice day. It's like my love for Hanson, it was always in the background, not burning but you know, there, enough that I'd know his name and age and squeal when I see him in a movie. And then my flatmates and I saw the trailer for the season premiere in a pub and I was like *pulls on their sleeves WE HAVE TO WATCH THIS* and we did and I converted them to the Scotty love. Alex just fell on us three like a ton of stupid, goofy bricks.
I know I saw Ocean's 11, but I only remember being charmed by every single person in that movie.
A ton of stupid, goofy bricks. Oh yes. That's AOL. It took a while for him to grow on me when I started watching the show. Mainly because he really didn't get to shine until some of the later episodes.
Ahahah, maybe I am! No I'm not that old, I'm just used to being older thasn most in my other fandom. I mean, one of the people I know in that fandom wasn't born when MmmBop came out (to go back to Hanson). I MEAN COME ON.
It is such a charming movie, though! The 2nd one makes me want to weep and for my eyes to melt, even though Scotty gets more screen time.
Yeah, it took a few episodes, but he quickly had me under his spell. And then we watched the Back-Up Plan. *makes hands motions again*
Pssht. Old. C'mon. And Yeah, fandom is prevailingly young. I always like it when I meet fangirls in their 40s and 50s, because its just...awesome. But I'm in my 30s so what do I know.
Alex nabbed my heart in Moonlight, but even he couldn't save that doctor drama he was on Three Rivers last year. I guess when I love an actor, I don't watch everything their in because I'm not going to love everything they're in. But I wanted to see Alex succeed b/c I knew he had promise if he got the right role.
Back-Up plan - I refuse to watch. I heard about it and my eyes wanted to start bleeding just from that. Poor Alex.
We watched Moonlight after falling for H50, just because...and then watched Three Rivers. I did like Moonlight but Three Rivers, just, no.
Oh The Back-Up Plan is not really good, granted, but some bits make up for the rest. The amount of on-screen time he spends without a shirt on, for example...And some moments are genuinely funny.
Dude. Three Rivers - I tried. I really did. I saw Alex was going to be on it and I said, "Okay Alex, I will give it a chance because of you." and ppfft...didn't even hold my interest through an entire episode.
And then a friend of mine wrote for H50 this season, and he told me to watch his new show, and I was like "Oh Alex is in this, yeah?" and He's like "Mel you only watch for the pretty." (he knows I don't but still) And then I stayed for the Steve/Danny romance.
A friend who watched Back-Up plan and reported back to me said that the main problem was that they dumbed down Alex's character, and he;s not a dumb guy. So, yeah, I'll take my shirtless Alex in intelligent roles. *wink*
I don't know, I thought Jennifer Lopez' character is the dumber of the two - I'm biased maybe, but I thought Alex' character's reactions to the whole ordeal and the way he goes for it rang real, when she just. She just annoyed me immensely, especially towards the end.
Consider me awesome. Or a total geezer, I'm good with either. :D
I couldn't watch Moonlight--gave it a try the other day when SciFi was running a marathon. It was just too painful! But then again, vampires just aren't my thing.
Consider me awesome. Or a total geezer, I'm good with either. :D
I totally consider you the awesomest of sauces.
Yeah, vampires are an acquired taste. It was just hilarious that Alex had better chemistry with his male co-star buddy than the woman his character was shipped with. That's probably Alex though, he seems to do better with the guys than the gals.
God, I know. I could listen to him all day though, seriously. Have you seen the Behind The Scenes for the finale? There's this bit where Alex talks about Steve's methods and he says 'I kinda like it' and I swear, it nearly killed me. And another interview where he's talking about Moonlight and vampires and he talks about performing 'lewd acts', and yeah. My mind pretty much exploded.
I have seen the BTS finale vids. I love that Alex likes Steve's recklessness, and the way he just sort of rumbles, "Yeah, I kinda like it"... jesus god.
Oh but I missed the "lewd acts" one. Oh that man. Such a sweet tease.
I love it too. I think he's doing such a terrific job at playing Steve McGarrett and portraying his character. But yeah, the way he says "I kinda like it..." just does things to me, mmmm.
