While writing you give me miles of mountain when I ask for the sea with [livejournal.com profile] somehowunbroken, it rapidly dawned on me that there was one song that gave me the most inspiration when focusing on this story. And this song, I think, also fits my feelings about McDanno after the finale.

This song is:

(DARE TELL ME IT DOESN'T FIT THEM, SERIOUSLY.)

This happens to me often enough. One song will stick to me while I'm writing a story. While writing Standing up in fire I must have listened to The Kin's Together at least a thousand times. The current fic I'm writing, I realised this morning, fits perfectly with Cheryl Cole's Parachute. Does it make sense? Am I leeching inspiration from music? Is it wrong?

Hmm. Let's talk, folks.

(related note, who wants a tease of my Danny-as-a-boxer fic?)

OMFG this song............. it's amazing. i've never heard it before. I haven't got around to read your fic yet (it's theeeere, open in a tab but i need time to sit back and enjoy it without interruption, jeez, real life is so annoying getting in the way with my fandom, no?) but reading the lyrics, I know what you mean, it's perfect! :')

uhm you know my answer xD

I have loved Damien Rice for many many years, and he writes the most beautiful (if not depressing) love songs. This one jumped at me when I gave myself time to think about the finale and the fic we were writing. it's just ridiculously adequate!

Hurr hurrrrr ^^

I need to listen to more of his songs. Maybe he could get the Most Depressing (yet Amazing) Songwriter award with Jeff Buckley. I associated Lover, you should've come over to my McDanno range of feeling after the finale, too

...okay now I'll end up listening to him all day. As usual.

I thiiiiiink in a few hours I'm free of work and can take my netbook and relax ghgh

From time to time I spend whole days listening to all his discography (which in studio is nt much but damn, the live shows are fantastic, especially when he covered Edith Piaff in Paris, aaaaah :''')

I like 'O' better than I like '9' but both albums are absolutely mindblowing. And I'm glad you're liking the fic!

its not wrong to take inspiration from that which surrounds you - we are all part of the universe and music is part of that - and you will take inspiration from others as well as the what is in your universe...thats natural and normal - just ask any aboriginal from any continent....thats how they formed their beliefs..

I love your stuff...keep doing whatever it takes to do what you do! ♥♥

Yeah - I am not naive enough to think I'll ever come up with something perfectly original, I don't think anything can be anyway, not any more. And music has always inspired me in every part of my life, I don't think I could write without music...

oh I don't for one minute believe that - you are an orginal - there is only 1 you...and that's perfect within the Universe....everything you do is original - but if you're talking stories....well Danny and Steve have only had 24 hours in our fandom world....wait until there is more canon before you think you can't be original with their stories.....we need more fodder and we just have to be patient.....:)

That song breeds angst. I like it. ;) (have loved that one for years)

I can't tell you how many songs have influenced my writing, my bunnies, my thoughts in general. My mp3 player goes everywhere with me.

And tease me, baby.

Seriously, I have so much love for Damien Rice and his depressing, depressing songs.

Same. I listen to music all the time (which is why I was crushed yesterday morning when my earphones broke), I can't not.

Ahah, I might later ;D *strokes chin*.

Whah! *weeps* I'm not familiar with him. My post-finale music is much more mundane, LOL. Just almost every song on Adele's 21.

I haven't really read any post-finale fics yet. Somehow I'm not ready to. I want a tease of Danny as a boxer though, please.

Ahaha, I have the weirdest music taste - a friend of mine introduced me to Damien Rice years and years ago, and I never really looked back. I am so glad I know his music though because if I need to listen depressing I know where to turn to :'). This song, though - from the very first time I heard it, it twisted me inside, and when Ki and I started writing the fix-it fic, it slapped me in the face, how adequate it is.

Can't blame you. I keep on writing them :'). And I shall post a bit of Danny-as-a-boxer later today! =D

I have your fic on my Kindle. I forgot I was planning to read it next, but that's the first post-finale one I'll have read. (I just wrote one this week, LOL, but it was somebody else's prompt, wouldn't have done it on my own.)

Oh, yes, I tend to have a few songs on repeat when writing particular fics--and I get bunnies for fics directly from songs, too. (I have an SGA-team-as-rock-band fic that's half-finished that was inspired by Metallica's cover of "Turn the Page" and an SGA-team-as-circus-performers that came from the Chili Peppers' "Soul to Squeeze.") The Matthew Good Band has been particularly good writing music, for me. *g*

And yay, Danny-as-a-boxer fic! (I've read your first Danny-as-a-boxer fic twice now, and [bad me] haven't yet commented, because I have, like, a lot to say. So I'll say now: I LOVED IT.)

(And now I'm going to write a little more on my H50-A-Team. If you're interested in dropping in. *scuffs toe shyly*)

I do too - they're not even necessarily that connected to the song itself but I'll be listening to something and suddenly, bam. How peculiar.

(ooooh lots of things to say is good, I wanna know all!)

(AND YES. VERY MUCH. BECAUSE THE A-TEAM, HEE.)

Ha! I just put that song on my Steve/Danny playlist days ago. Hee. It is indeed perfect. (I also like "Rootless Tree" for them, ifSteve ever felt that Danny abandoned him, and/or emo enough.)

And if you ask me, it is never wrong to draw inspiration from music, as long as you're not ripping word-for-word lyrics or, goodness forbid, subjecting the world to all-out songfic. LOL.

I am trying to write this thing right now in Danny POV, huge in timeframe, and I'm hitting a block because ever since the finale aired, this one song keeps poking me in the heart. It's frakking distracting. XD

Date: 2011-05-25 04:17 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] delicatale.livejournal.com
I fucking love Rootless Tree. so so hard, it's ridiculous. Never listened to it while thinking about them, though, but now I will XD.

WHAT. But songfic is so inspired! And original! (why do I associate it with emo emo fic where people cry into their pillows while listening to Evanescence? Sigh. I'm sure somewhere in the world there are some good songfics. I have yet to find them.)

I'm writing this thing right now, huge in timeframe, where I'm writing way too many words and not moving along this stupid stupid timeframe. And I keep on listening to Gaga's Judas and it's DERAILING ME.

Date: 2011-05-25 04:41 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] gossy16.livejournal.com
I mean, sometimes if I love a song enough I'll kind of stretch the ~meaning~, so I don't know, works for me. XD

LMAO if I never see "My Eternal" quoted ANYWHERE WHATSOEVER again, it'll still be a nuisance. I have never clicked 'back' so frantically. (lol remember when browsers didn't have tabs? /dinosaur)

lol, maybe Gaga will play a gig in Hawaii where your characters are (I'm baselessly assuming this is H50 fic) and someone will get dragged willy-nilly. You can songfic it up! lulz. Or Danny gets an inexplicable crush on Chin, I dunno, in an AU where Danny would think of himself as a prostitute wench.

Date: 2011-05-25 04:44 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] delicatale.livejournal.com
Oh I stretch meanings too. Every time I hear 'California King Bed' by Rihanna these days I think of McDanno, TELL ME WHY, I DON'T KNOW.

(yes, no tabs, of course I remember, ugh and then they existed and my life CHANGED.)

It is H50, although it is so so AU, dude. They're in New Jersey and Danny is not even a cop D:. Steve is a SEAL though. But it's in 2006 for now so Gaga does not exist as of yet! HELL AND DAMNATION.

lol IT'S THE STRONG IMAGERY. Chest to chest, nose to nose, palm to palm, I mean, duh. Also, I bet Gracie has that CD and it drives Danny nuts that she even likes these songs but will probably never care for Bon Jovi. (I'm trying, okay? LOL.)

Hm. Is time-travel an option?

SERIOUSLY. And sometimes I listen to it and I think 'oh, Danny/Rachel, yes, that too'. ISSUES. I like to listen to it when I'm writing snuggling though, because it's is so pretty.

Hm. No. ;). I'll post a tease of it in just a minute! You can judge. BUT NO GAGA WILL BE FEATURING IN THIS STORY.

Date: 2011-05-25 06:21 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] gossy16.livejournal.com
Yeah, I have a playlist set up for Danny/Rachel too, though that one doesn't have that many songs on it. I'm in that crazy stage of fandom still, where EVERY SONG I HEAR makes me think of beloved characters/ships. So I feel silly for a second, but fuck it, I actually love that crazy stage of fandom. XD

Hee! Refreshing f-list as we speak.

Damian Rice is just A-Fucking-mazing in any way. I have several of his songs. This IS Steve/Danny.

I have a couple songs that speak Danny/Steve to me too (Swim til You Can't See Land - Frightened Rabbit, Kiss me Slowly - Parachute, ect) and I was looking for inspiration for my latest work for the boys, and I was like, Pshht, I got 800 freaking songs on my iTunes why not look there?

Anyway, yeah. I be looking through iTunes for fic help RIGHT NOW!

I have all three of his albums and several live bootlegs because I can't seem to get enough of him :'). Still hoping to see him live someday though. I want to go in alone so I can not be mocked for crying through most of the songs :') (which is sort of what I'm doing when seeing Hanson next month - they're playing 5 gigs and I'm going to all 5 and only 2 of them I'm going with friends!).

Music gives me bunnies but it's never on purpose, it kinda suddenly dawns on me, so I can't really decide like that. Wish I could though!
