So I mostly am not thinking a lot about this episode. It was mostly exposition for the new character(s) and so there was a lot of Lori and not much of anything else. I liked her, she's sassy, but she was around in scenes where Danny wasn't and should have been (because he's the one who can talk to victims without making them bristle - is it going to be her, now?). I found Steve and Lori's interactions good, although the scene in his office about him sidelining her made me cringe a little, it felt very forced. Maybe it was on purpose.

However, I am more concerned about the Kono storyline. I like it, I think it'll be good, but what I don't get is why was Chin the only person who cared enough to go see her? Why was she alone at the end? Somehow, it doesn't really feel very in character to me.

However, yeah, not feeling much about this episode because it was mostly the episode to say, look, this is Lori, she'll be around now.

SO, OKAY, HELLO LORI!

Next week's promo, though, vfjvkfls I cannot wait XD.

Definitely not their strongest episode, but character exposition is often difficult.

I think they probably could have done it better, but pacing is not H50's strongest suit. I'm not mad really ^^.

That bothered me a bit, but as I was wondering why the rest of the team wasn't there for Kono, I realized they were in the middle of a kidnapping case so, I presume that's why we didn't see them around her?

At the end, no one was , but I think that's part of the setup. The team has to think she's out.

I just hope they don't make them go through this alone. I have a feeling it's what's going to happen and I'm not a fan of it. I've read some reviews where people are downright angry at Steve, because they feel like Steve should be taking the blame - I don't necessarily agree with that, but I agree on the fact that she should not have to be all alone as she was shown in the episode. Maybe they've cut scenes, maybe she's the one pushing the others away (although with ep 1 this seems weird), but I'd just like some explanations, I guess...

I get that feeling too. Kono's storyline being a solo plot. We'll see.

If I recall, Steve already said he ordered Kono to take the money, right? We don't know what was said at ther hearing. Much like Chin and his aunt, I think Kono is tryng to do this on her own since the money was stolen for Chin.

We'll see. I know this is TPTB's way of getting Kono something edgier arc wise.

Did he? Hmm. I guess they're keeping this on Kono to mirror what happened to Chin, make it a double scandal'/reversal on the family situation. And I like the idea of an edgy, bordering on illegal Kono story arc, but I don't want TPTB to forget she's part of Five-0...

My guess is that it's a deal. As an 'ousted' cop she goes undercover and exchange she gets put back on 5-0.

It still means she's alone in it which makes me sad, but we'll see how it pans out.

Yes, what the hell is going on with this? Steve was in on it too. You'd think he'd at least show up to lend some support - even if it was only at her house at the end.

I hated that they were all watching it on TV from the office and she was all alone at home by herself. It was painful to watch.

I liked Lori well enough--she's a competent investigator and good with people but I think the show is trying to hard by having them "cutely argue." It felt a little forced. And I just hope she'll get to interact with everyone--I'd love to see her and Kono become friends. And I'd to see how Lori and Danny would relate to each other as well.

And I get that they were working a case and a pretty time sensitive one, but why was Kono left completely alone to face I.A? And why isn't Steve more upset by it?

I do hope there is a better balance of team member interaction in the upcoming episodes. I like Lori but I don't want to become over-saturated with her character.

I think this episode was to introduce her a lot, which is why there was so much of her in it. I don't think it'll be a weekly thing. Fingers crossed, anyway!

As for Kono, I just. Idk. I'm perturbed by it.

I think they probably shouldn't have tried to fit in the character introduction and Kono's storyline into the same episode. It felt horribly out of character for none of them to be with Kono, apart from the rather brief Chin-hug. scene.

Yeah, I agree. The pacing was off - as it can often be with H50. Two episodes in and they've crammed so much in already...

Agreed! You and I are definitely sharing a brain on this. The whole "LOOK, THEY ARE FLIRTING, SEE, THEY HAVE CHEMISTRY" bit felt forced, but I did like her.

And Danny touched Steve a lot because he looked really hot in a suit. That's all I really need in an ep. :D

Yeah, exactly - the first scene they have together in the waiting room, when he gives her a once-over, I felt a bit dirty, like, oh, Steve, you are not that sleazy please stop.

Danny touching Steve should be mandatory really.

AGREED. This. Everything.

And Kono? So upset about that. Regardless of if she is or is not part of Five-0, she is still supposed to be family to them, and that seems to have been thrown out the window. And yeah, she definitely should not be going through all of this alone.

Yeah, that's the thing. I guess, since they made the recurring theme of S1 'Ohana', we got used to them having each other's backs through thick and thin, and now it's like, completely forgotten, and it's weird.

I have a question, and I'm not trying to play devil's advocate or anything, but since Kono is under investigation are the others really allowed to be around her? I guess the fact that Chin was - and went to talk to IA-fuckwad on her behalf - would kinda point towards "it's okay", but I'm not sure how those things work... Is Chin still a part of HPD? Is Danny? Steve is obvs not... I don't know how the logistics of those things work is all I'm saying. *confused*

I get what you're saying, and it makes sense, but I can't see Steve giving a shit about that kind of procedure. I don't know, I just want to know more because I'm frustrated :(.

Yeah, I think Steve would/should just say 'fuck it' and be there to support her. I also don't understand why he hasn't come forward to say anything about his involvement... or why TPTB haven't at least shown us a convo amongst the four of them reasoning out why it's best for Kono to go it alone. Better not to implicate any of the rest of them when there's no one who can first-hand ID Steve? IDK. So many more questions than answers.

The more I think about what happened with Kono, the angrier I get. *sigh*

I mean Steve made a point of telling Lori how they all had each others backs and then there was Kono all by herself at the end. So not cool.

It is making me angrier as well, when I think more on it. It's fairly upsetting.

Here's what really bugs me about the whole Kono situation: the video that exonerates Steve *has* to also include Jameson's and Steve's convo about Jameson replacing the money from the asset forfeiture locker! That video was played before Steve, Joe, Danny, Chin, Denning, and a good half dozen mixed cops, SWAT guys, aides, and the like -- unless they're all dumber than a bag of hair, this info should have been *screaming* at them!

It might be frowned upon, but they stole the money to save Chin's life, what they stole was destroyed in the process, preventing them from returning it after the situation as resolved, and Jameson covered their asses by replacing the money -- I'd say that would fall under the umbrella of her full immunity and means, as the situation took place months before she was killed.

Now, why Steve was willing to throw himself on his sword in Kai e'e about the missing money, yet has remained strangely silent now that Kono's on the hook... that's a puzzle.

I know, right? This whole thing doesn't really make any sense, and it's upsetting, and I'm really bothered by it. Urgh, I hope they sort it out soon.

I'm so confused about the Kono thing as well. Why the hell wasn't anyone concerned and checking their phones every five minutes when she had to go into that meeting? And why was she alone by the end of the episode?? Wasn't Steve preaching about 'team' at the beginning of the ep somewhere? IDK, kinda really disappointed in all of them. Kono, you are badass and you should be out there kicking their asses for making you be a sad panda all by your lonesome self.

Other than that, what I got out of this episode was one Babe, and one How long have you two been married. Good harvest.

Seriously, I want her to make them pay (I already came up to one of my friends with a theory on how she makes Danny make it up for her...). But yeah, it's all quite upsetting, I think.

This is quite a bit late! But I JUST saw the episode and I had to say...I'm kind of surprised. I'm not one to be horrified by spoilers or viewer's comments, so I saw a lot of them previous to watching episode 2. But honestly, I wasn't that disappointed. I know a lot of people are - and about the Kono thing I kind of am - but Lori didn't bother me that much.

Which again, surprise. I'm definitely not one for "new additions", especially for a show that's supposed to focus on TEAM. I just...didn't mind. Probably because I know that they aren't going to make it a love interest now.

And she asked how long Danny and Steve had been married. That kind of made my night.

Still, the Kono thing I have to push away a little. PLenkov says to "hang in there", so I shall. This better be a pretty kick ass story arc though.
