So my Muse has decided to give me my first bunny, post H50 finale. And I hate it because just thinking about it BREAKS MY FUCKING HEART. Because Danny goes back to New Jersey and doesn't help Chin clear Steve's name and the guilt is eating at him, okay, but he's got a family. So when Steve's name is cleared and Kono calls Danny and tells him to come back, if only for a few days, they're having a big party and Steve would like him to be there, Danny goes. And Chin is angry at him but Steve? Steve is just heartbroken. Steve hurts just looking at Danny and thinking about him back in New Jersey as if nothing ever happened between them and as if Danny doesn't know that Steve was counting on him, that Steve loves him, because fuck, he does, he really does.
And there are fights and angry, desperate sex and Danny's feeling so torn up about everything in his life because nothing is right and just.

You know, this whole episode (season really) had a quite strong 'OH MCGARRET SO RIGHTEOUS AND INNOCENT AND BLAMELESS' that I wonder if Danny patching up his family was supposed to add to that. I mean, they fucking eat/ate eggs together in the morning, which Danny made. But that's all off the table now, isn't it? POOR MCGARRETT OMG I HOPE HE'S OKAY AFHASLKJ;K'L!!1! (wink wink, nudge nudge)

I mean, I'm probably reading too much into it.

My muse chooses to troll me with thoughts of Steve/Kono prison sex, so idek what's worse. lol.

Well the whole undercurrent was definitely family. So in that respect I guess it makes sense. But I have a number of issues with it, that have nothing to do with whom I ship...

No I think I see what you're saying. I can make it work in terms of character if I fanwank it just so (i.e. that awkward moment when my notes for a fic I'm writing are longer than the story itself) but I'm not necessarily pleased to do so. LOL. I MEAN, UM, IT ~ENRICHES~ THE CHARACTERS I SUPPOSE. Sheesh.

And, IKR? I'm especially interested in that one Dark Moment (tm) when it looks for all the world like Chin's not gonna come through for them, and they realize Danny's not coming back (which is of course b/s, but what do they know, THEY ARE IN JAIL and heartbroken and everything else).
