Author's note: Unbeta'ed, please do tell me if anything is wrong. Just a quick one, I wanted cuddling and sleepiness so I wrote 450 words of it before dinner :'). Anyway, I hope you enjoy, comments are amazing and I love them a lot.
The sun is falling right in his eye. In. His. Eye, that bastard, that's just mean, it doesn't need to do this on a Sunday afternoon. They've been on case after case for days and days and they've barely slept for the past week, and now, now they're finally done and they can lie down for more than ten minutes for a power nap - anywhere they could, seriously, Danny saw Kono sleeping on the floor of her office at one point - the sun is right in his eye. Fuck this. He grumbles and twitches his nose until a hand falls on his hip and squeezes, a little hard. Danny grumbles some more.
"Danny."
His name in Steve's mouth is sleep-soaked and warm but it's also a warning and Danny sighs, relaxing into the touch. He's exhausted, his body aching to the bones, and the mattress is so fucking comfortable and Steve is warm behind him, warm and there's all that skin that Danny would explore once again if he wasn't so thoroughly tired. Hawaii at least is being sort of nice right now, quiet after one of these afternoon showers and there's a soft breeze keeping the temperatures from ramping up, but then again, there's the sun. Fuck the sun, it will not keep Danny from sleeping.
It takes an enormous amount of effort but he turns around, facing Steve, and he noses around his collarbone, smelling sandalwood and saltwater that, no matter how many showers Steve takes, will not disappear. Danny's fine with it, he would even dare to say he likes it. It makes Steve Steve, and then he's like this, heavy with sleep and pliant under Danny's hands, so far away from the guarded, all guns blazing superSEAL. It's rare and special and once again Danny wishes he wasn't so fucking weary, he wishes he had the strength to kiss and lick and taste and have Steve willing under his touch. He'll do that later, maybe, in a few hours when Steve inevitably stirs and wakes him up. For now, Danny wants to make the most of this Steve, tired Steve, soft and graceful when he moves. He's so gorgeous sometimes Danny has trouble breathing when he looks at him, but then Steve says something infuriating and the balance of the Earth is restored.
Danny's too tired, and Steve feels too good against him, holding him loosely - a hand around Danny's hip still and the other curled between their bodies, fingers spread over fuzzy blonde hair and a nipple - sort of, enough. Danny curls a hand around Steve's forearm and breathes out tiredly, but content. Hiding his face in Steve's chest, the sun is not in his eye anymore.
