Big weekend. Managed a series of good and bad things, but in the end, it was rather enjoyable! I do not deal well with this heat, though, let me tell you.

Okay, so, in terms of fannish ~work (which is not work at all really), here where we are:

- SCI!Steve finished, tick!
- [livejournal.com profile] help_yca fic for [livejournal.com profile] tailoredshirt in the work, 600 words of it done, now it needs some porn. It probably will be only for her eyes, though, so.
- pornstatic explosion of porn happenings with [livejournal.com profile] thegrrrl2002 is in the works, written 2 out of the 5 things. It's going to be the longest PWP ever, I feel.
- Pa (and Ma) Williams visits Hawai'i and make Danny's life so much harder with [livejournal.com profile] sirona_gs is in the works, too, and I love what we have dearly even if, wow, much angstier than expected, what the hell boys why do you have so many ~feelings.
- [livejournal.com profile] h50_holidayswap fic to happen once I receive the assignment, excited!
- [livejournal.com profile] zombiebang done, tick!
- [livejournal.com profile] h50_exchange done, tick!
- [livejournal.com profile] five0bang written with [livejournal.com profile] sirona_gs done, tick! (editing to come)

And that is it. I have not started a new fic yet, still enjoying the easy work with awesome writing partners for now, we'll see when I feel the pull for more.

For now, I am doing like Scotty Caan, I am hanging loose, brah.

Wow, I'm so impressed by your writerly output! I'm stalled on two H50 fics (well, they're two POVs of the same events, which both helps and hinders things), plus my epic White Collar / SPN pre-canon crossover. They're both at the annoying 'almost done' stage, but I'm not yet happy with them.

Also, I'm curious as to how co-writing works. I've seen it done in fics where the POV alternates, sure, but I truly don't understand how two people can create a story together. Does it involve specialisation - e.g. one of you writes the porn, and the other writes Danny's rants - or is the whole process collaborative?

You don't have to answer, of course! I just feel that writing is so intensely personal that I couldn't bear to share it with anyone. I'm impressed that you can :)

It's completely collaborative. I mean, of course it depends on whom you're writing with, but in our cases, it's completely collaborative. With both [livejournal.com profile] thegrrrl2002 and [livejournal.com profile] sirona_gs, we share a google doc so we can both be in it at the same time and discuss points if needed, and we 'tag' each other; I'll write a few hundred words, tag the other, they'll write a few hundred words, and so on. With [livejournal.com profile] tailoredshirt it's even more messy, we tend to write at the same time in different parts, but it's also quite fun.

Some stories I write on my own, and wouldn't want to write them with a co-author, because it's a story I want to tell. But some stories you come up during a discussion, and then you just go for it, and it's not that personal, it's a sharing process that is really fun, and has taught me a lot about my writing. I think it makes me a better solo author, but it's definitely something completely different for everyone. It can also be difficult to find people with whom you click well enough to manage to write together.

I second [livejournal.com profile] delicatale, it is extremely difficult to find someone with whom/whose writing style you gel. Me and D. just click; we have similar writing styles, we're both pretty comfortable with both Steve and Danny's POVs, and we fangirl all over the place while we write, basically, which helps hammer out plot and dialogue, AND OF COURSE IT'S HELLA FUN. \0/ For me collab writing works, because a) it's less srs bsns than solo writing, and sometimes I just want to have fun writing, and b) because when/if I get stuck somewhere, I can just tag D. and let her move it forward a scene or two. AND ME AND HER WRITE LIKE THE FUCKING WIND, NO JOKE. We wrote the 40K BB in a week. I am always amazed to look up from the actual writing and check the word count, because it's always ridiculous. :D
