Actually, that might not be a bad idea /o\. I feel like everything I write is turning to shit these days, and I'm in the middle of writing something I really don't want to fuck up so it's all NOT VERY GOOD.
One lesson that has been hard-learned by me and a couple of my fandom friends--we've talked about it recently, even, which is why I bring it up--is that our emotions don't always equal reality. And when we're feeling so unmoored or unhappy, it's sometimes (not always, but sometimes) helpful to remind ourselves that how we're feeling isn't really what's going on.
And I know it can be hard to keep at it when you're feeling dissatisfied, but I know, for me, if I don't write at all that's also shitty, and so if I get something, anything down I figure it's better than nothing, and it'll give me a starting point to revise it. As my good friend blackmare_9 says: The worst it can do is suck, right?
And then you hand it over to your beta, or come back to it in a couple days, and get some gold after all. :)
The Truth is (and notice the capital T!): You are an excellent writer. Your contest results are not the measuring stick of that. I AM. (AHAHA, just kidding on that last part, I couldn't resist.) But seriously: YOU ARE.
