It's a good thing, Danny solid, breathing, under his fingertips, under his mouth, against him, pressed flush and arched to mold himself to Steve. It's reassuring, alive; living, bitching proof that things are okay, will be okay.

And Sang Min showing up ruined the moment, Steve would give him that, and sent the whole team into a spin, but now. Now there's nothing else they can do and Steve has offered beer - he knows probably he shouldn't have because Danny is bound to be medicated, but some things matter more.

What matters more is resuming the hug, out here on his lanai, Danny offering the comfort as much as Steve. They fall into each other's arms because when it's like this, it's easy.

"Hey, hey, SuperSEAL, I know I offered, but if you could ease off a little, my ribs still hurt, you know."

Danny talks into Steve's shoulder, words muffled by cotton, breaths warm against Steve's skin. He relaxes his muscles but doesn't let go. Anyone would have had enough, but Steve - he doesn't get many hugs and he definitely doesn't get many hugs from people like Danny, who’s made hugging an art form, something that focuses all of Steve's attention and senses. And fuck, it feels good, because Danny is alive and he's okay and he's fine with Steve clinging on to him and he's clinging back, too, his fingers curled into Steve's shirt.

"I really am okay, Steve."

Steve just nods in answer, and he knows, he knows that Danny's okay - today. Tomorrow could be completely different, and Steve feels like getting in as much hugging time as he can, right now, while it's still possible.

"Hey, Steve, I don't mind giving you all the hugs in the world, I really don't because I know you were deprived of good hugs and no one should ever live life deprived of good hugs, but if we could rearrange ourselves somewhere possibly horizontal, I'd be thankful. I did almost die today, after all."

Steve sighs into Danny's hair, smiling to himself as he closes his eyes for a second. Danny - Danny is alive, he's okay, firm and pushing Steve towards the inside of the house. Steve doesn't let go, even as they walk, crab-like, to some piece of furniture they can settle on - bed, couch, the kitchen table for all he cares. He's got a lot of hugging to make up for.

Poor needy, Pining Steve HASN'T Gotten a lot of hugs in his life, post mom's death and OMFG that's a lot of time to make up for. I love that Danny knows this and totally rolls with it.

Steve would totally be a big goofy retriever in the dog world and I could imagine Danny as a Corgi; feisty, brave, talkative, loyal, and a strong muscular body, but kind of short. Hee-hee!
