The Fort does LA
Dec. 4th, 2011 12:24 pmFirst of all, thank you all for the comments on my last two entries, and sorry I didn't reply - I will now, I promise!
So, Los Angeles. I came to it with an open mind, because what else could I do? And, simply put, I loved it. When we flew back,
stjarna1984 said she couldn't live there, that the vast expanses would freak her out. I feel the exact opposite. I loved the vast expanses and the crawling qualities of the city, how everything is pushing further and further but leaves space to breathe. London is cramped in a way I love, so many people everywhere at all and any time, but LA is big and broad and leaves space to just stop and breathe and tilt your head to the sun.
I felt free and happy and relaxed for the first time in a long time. We were lucky with the weather, and we got to go to the beach and get sand stuck everywhere as we watched surfers do their thing. We did Disney on a beautiful day that just made everything even better, and no queue was longer than half an hour. We did Thanksgiving and we did Santa Monica and we did the Cheesecake Factory (why doesn't it exist in the UK I will never understand) and we did Hollywood and we did Malibu and we did so many things, and yet there was so much more we wanted to see. I could have stayed over there a month longer, seriously.
Okay, have some pictures. They're far from perfect and I don't have the energy to edit them, so it's all a bit raw.
