delicatale: (Steve the Lt Commander is sad)
delicatale ([personal profile] delicatale) wrote2011-08-10 05:38 pm

um, I probably shouldn't admit this so loudly.

It seems I have found myself with a lot of affection for a pairing that isn't written (yet?) (well it has, twice now I think), that is quite wrong and a little twisted, but in a way I love it. Said pairing is grown-up!Gracie/Steve. In different ways. In a 'she's always loved him' way, or in a 'he's always been part of the family' way, or in a 'she's gone for years for college and then she found a job on the mainland and now she's coming back and Steve is older but still gorgeous and she's a woman, now, he can't deny her that' way, I just. I find the idea fascinating. And hot, because grown-up!Grace is hot in my head. And Steve doesn't call her Gracie anymore when she's older and curvy and looks at him with defiance in her eyes, no, and he knows it's wrong because she's Grace but, but.

I don't know, you guys, I'm fucked in the head and all that.

I totally see the appeal. And if you're fucked for wanting to read it what am I for writing it? Or for that matter that Steve/Mary I wrote? Apparently I only like het in this fandom if it is at least a little (or in the Steve/Mary case a lot) fucked up.

[identity profile] theellibu.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I just. Don't see that at all. Can't help it, it just seems a bit too wrong in my head.

[identity profile] verasteine.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
It's fucked in the head, yes, but by god, this is fandom. We're all fucked in the head. Also, is Danny dead in that future? Because that would matter a lot to me on whether I could believe it.

[identity profile] tailoredshirt.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
This is what I've missed most about Harry Potter fandom, all of the fucked up pairings! I don't think I could read it if she grew up with him the whole time, but if it's, like, Danny and Grace moved back to NJ when she was nine and she just thinks of him as her dad's old friend who is stupidly hot and way too old for her, then I am all over that shit. Well. Okay, I would probably read it regardless of the scenario, as long as she's an adult, but I think I would prefer the "dad's old friend" scenario vs. "he's basically my stepdad." I love cross-gen when it's done right.

As long as she's grown up I think it's awesome and could work. It's crossed my mind before too.

[identity profile] imaginarycircus.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I never wrote Kreacher/James... or Hagrid/Dobby... >_>

[identity profile] mercyisme.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
After Supernatural fandom, wrong is really relative. I can't believe some of the stuff I've read, so Steve/Grace doesn't faze me in the least, not even if he is her stepdad (Grace has to be grown up, though). I can understand if people have a problem with it, but I don't see any shame in it - there are worse things being written than two consenting people getting it on.

LOL! I never wrote it, but I can admit to reading Harry/house elves, Harry/Hogwarts (that fic was awesome), and Padfoot/everyone. >.> And, you know, every messed up cross-gen or incest fic, although that almost goes without saying if you're in HP fandom.

I kind of want to read the Kreacher/James...

I don't think it's terribly graphic, but I think I'm afraid to read it. If you want graphic--I wrote Snape/Soup:

Yeah - I couldn't read Steve/Mary, but oh, WELL.

[identity profile] delicatale.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
It's wrong in my head too, but I can't help it! Apparently my brain is managing to have it make sense...

[identity profile] delicatale.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
In the way things go in my head, Danny's not around, yeah. The clearest image I have of the two if after Danny's funeral, actually. Which is sad, but, yeah.

[identity profile] tailoredshirt.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
\o/ Reading these when I get home! :D

[identity profile] imaginarycircus.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I think they were written in 2002 originally. O_O

[identity profile] delicatale.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 06:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I have different scenarios, actually. One is, she goes away, back to the mainland, for college, and then she finds a job and stays there, and comes back from time to time - and it's weird and she doesn't see Steve often but every time she does it reminds her of how she wanted him when she was a teenager, and then Danny dies, and she comes back for the funeral, and Steve's stricken with grief, and so is she, and things happen.

And other scenario is that she goes back to Jersey and comes back when she's older and there they go. I like that one, but that one will definitely be thwarted when S2 starts...

[identity profile] delicatale.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, obviously she'd be grown up - I can't see it any other way.

[identity profile] delicatale.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 06:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I've only stayed in a very secluded corner of the SPN fandom so you know - my fandom prior to H50 was really not the kind to dabble into weird pairings. But yeah, Grace as an adult, and Steve, I don't know, I just like it.

[identity profile] imaginarycircus.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 06:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Like [livejournal.com profile] tailoredshirt the HP fandom kind of broke me. I wrote and read so much brother/sister and brother/brother and even some parent/child incest... That nothing phases me. But yeah only adult Grace in this fandom, yes.

[identity profile] tailoredshirt.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 06:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I am in favor of all of these situations, as long as Steve wasn't stricken with grief because he and Danny were in love. ;_; That would crush me and not in a good way.

I'm also in favor of a situation where they have to keep this hidden from Danny.

Bah, who cares, it could be an AU.

[identity profile] tailoredshirt.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Nothing was sacred in HP fandom. I read all kinds of Harry/James and everything and didn't even blink. In this fandom, Grace is pretty sacred, especially with regards to her relationships with Steve and Danny, so I definitely have standards for any and all Grace pairings.

[identity profile] imaginarycircus.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, me too. I don't think I could read Grace/Danny. D:

[identity profile] delicatale.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
No, stricken with grief after losing his partner of many many years, not his lover.

Ahahahahah, anything is possible, heh?

[identity profile] bandbfan.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Well if you are fucked then so am I b/c I could really love reading about this scenario!
Glad I am not the only one!

[identity profile] tailoredshirt.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh my god, me neither. :( Like, just the idea of it is so D:

[identity profile] imaginarycircus.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
YES! D:

Let's cleanse our brains with happy thoughts of Steve/Danny.
