Okay, I really feel the need to ask this question here, because I am a bit worried about things I have read this afternoon...

In fic, do you prefer when characters use a condom or not? Say, in a Steve/Danny first time fic, what do you prefer? What do you think is more in character?

Please, do tell me. Any answer would be precious for my sanity, right now.

That said, though, I love any writer good enough to give me something that I would have thought was totally out of character and make me not only believe it, but love it as a storyline (Joss Whedon comes to mind, more than once). But that only works when someone builds up to it with really great storytelling.

I'd love to see a story where Steve murders Wo Fat. Cold, premeditated murder. But until I come up with something believable and not (too) cliche...I'm not writing one. Because as much as I'd like to see him do it, his moral compass would have to be pretty fucked up to literally seek the guy out and plan his murder.

Now coming face to face with him in the heat of the moment and getting a chance for a questionable but justifiable homicide...that's a different story.... ;-)

Yeah, you have to really think about it. This is something I really love about this fandom, and many of its writers - people think before they just start writing something completely out of character, and many are not afraid to pack on the words, make the stories longer, take more time and careful planning and thoughts, to have a good result in the end, something believable and tangible.

I'm sure if you get the right idea, you'll manage!

There are definitely some really thoughtful, careful writers in this fandom, and I very much appreciate that. We're very lucky! :)
