Teaser trailer of some kind I am not sure and I feel really full of shit right now

Okay, so I don't know, you guys, I have been working on this since Friday and it's been eating at my brain. I blame Tumblr, for putting this picture as a Tumblr Radar picture last Thursday:



Now, for a little history about Ellie (as in, me, yes, okay, no, I'm not that arrogant). My father used to be very much into scuba diving when I was little, he was a big part of the local club and regularly went to trips to Egypt and the South coast of France for diving trips. He'd bring back amazing pictures and buy books about sea life all the time. Little to say, I was fascinated at the time - still am. I still really want to try scuba diving and go diving.
Another thing that firmly pushed the idea that 'being in the sea = cool' for me was a movie that I saw multiple times when I was little, and again as a teenager. A French movie, called Le Grand Bleu (it was released in the US under the translation, The Big Blue), which is a movie about freediving and freedivers and a beautiful and terrible friendship and an all-consuming love story. This movie had a huge impact on me, back in the day.

And, seeing this picture, and after perspi's recent post about freediving, all these ideas started assaulting me. I started writing this fic, where Steve is a freediver, and Danny meets him, and it's sort of consuming. I've been watching the movie again (just so you know, it's 3 hours long if you ever think about giving it a try) and I'm using it as a crutch to support the story I'm writing. It's not exceedingly long - I've just passed 7K and an important plot point in the story, but I really love it? I know it sounds horrible, to say things like that, but I just. I feel very proud of what I've got so far, and I really, dearly hope you guys will be interested and will want to read it.



“You never told me, how it feels to dive, for you.”

Steve lets out a soft breath, and Danny feels fingers in his hair, tugging lightly at blond strands, as if Steve needs something to anchor him in. Then Steve is shuffling just that bit closer, just close enough that he can bury his nose in Danny’s hair, just over his ear.

“It’s like slipping away. It’s like I weight nothing but I’m wearing the world on my shoulders. And then, the further I go down, the hardest it is to come back up.”

Danny’s stomach flips, clenches. “Why?”

“Because I need a reason.”

Steve pulls away, looks straight into Danny’s eyes, as if he’s trying to say things he can’t actually verbalize, so Danny pushes up on his elbow and leans down, lips brushing against Steve’s, tentative at first, the angle all wrong in that position. Still, it grows more forceful when Steve snakes a hand to the back of Danny’s neck and keeps him close, letting out a soft keening noise that Danny swallows, sets his insides on fire. He pulls away reluctantly, looking at Steve’s glazed over eyes.

“C’mon. Inside.”

It doesn't sound horrible at all. If you didn't love it and weren't proud of it I would be worried. The fact that you are means it will be good.

I'm using scenes and moments of the movie in the fic, but generally, apart from being inspired and having the same theme, the story is different. I couldn't show everything the movie shows in a fic, otherwise I would...but yeah, basically, Danny is Johanna, with a little more to his life than just Steve, though.

oh my, you can't go wrong with Le Grand Bleu ^^ Because, you know, Jean-Marc Barr, graou <3. I've been, in Greece, to the island where part of the beginning was shot, and it was simply beautiful, and so peaceful.

It sound absolutely wonderful, love. I've always had a fascination for diving as well and that picture is just amazing. I'm quite positive that when you're done, I'll be reading your fic 100x! That picture is amazing, seriously. In a way it's a shame that I'm not writing in Steve/s POV, but trying to recreate that kind of scene would probably make my brain explode into purple prose XD.
