A little late to the discussion but I wanted to add my thoughts here too.

I prefer condoms are used. And I think it's well within both Steve and Danny's character to use them also. I feel like it's irresponsible story telling for an author to leave that out. Unless and until they get tested for STI's and decide/chose to be monogamous, at which time they can revisit the condom vs. no condom debate.
