So many people write AUs with Steve leaving the SEALs for Danny, but so few ever touch on the fact that the government teaches men to be a SEAL, teaches them to forget home and family and having a life to serve and protect the whole damn world, but they don't ever teach them how to deal with that inevitable day when they have to leave all they were trained to be behind and learn to live for themselves again. It is hard when everything you know about yourself is suddenly no longer relevant, and this rings completely and utterly spot on for this Steve, and for his Danny. Awesome job!
