So, in case you wish to know this given the note: recurring Brit word in here: waistcoat. Americans know what one is most likely, and possibly when you buy a 3-piece suit they call them that, but that thing is a vest in American English. I very much doubt either of them would say waistcoat. I have never heard anyone call one that in any context that wasn't like, incredibly snooty, or, you know, unless the speaker was British.
